On 19th of August, 2013, A group of Start-up companies from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) embarked their China roadshow tour in Changping District, Beijing.
The organization, MIT-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum(MIT-CHIEF for short), is an independent non-profit organization founded by MIT's Chinese students-turned entrepreneurs. Their goals include promoting innovation idea exchange and entrepreneurship, connecting investors to the newest projects from MIT, and bring more and more high-quality projects into China.
The Beijing stop of this roadshow tour was hosted by Beijing Changping District Administration Committee in Changping Technology Park. ZVCA co-hosted this event.
MIT-CHIEF holds a Business Plan Contest every year.The winners of this contest comprised the 14 start-up teams of this roadshow tour. Among these are not only technology break-throughs fresh from the labs, but also projects which are about to be industrialized. The team members hold masters or PhDs from top universities in the U.S., such as Harvard, MIT, Chicago, Stanford,Pennsylvania and Cornell, with up to 15 years of work experience.
Around 100 investors attended the event. They interacted with the teams through the Q&A sessions after each presentation and networking sessions at the end of the roadshow.
